The highlight of the week’s events will be the building of the Compassion Sand Mandala.
An example of this many-day process of creation and dissolution can be viewed on this time-lapse video.

Part of their mission is to raise support for their refuge monk’s community in south India, which serves as a center for preserving their traditions and culture. The history and purpose of this monastery as well as a sampling of activities provided by the monks on this tour, can be viewed:

St Paul’s Episcopal Church is co-hosting the monks visit in Key West; providing housing for the monks and offering the gardens and buildings as venues for gatherings, blessings, music & many events.

The monks will be offering a variety of activities around our town. While the main event is in creating the Sand Mandala; the monks can offer blessings of homes, businesses and pets; offer Cultural Pageants and lectures in our schools; and provide music performances, tea ceremonies, and other traditional rituals on request.

We would like to extend Key West hospitality to the monks and be sure that the events and offerings during the week are well supported both financially and with strong participation from our sangha and the community.

Key West Tara Mandala sangha needs help with preparations for their visit.
